Global investment firm The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG ) today announced the acquisition of Jagex , a leading developer and publisher of video games. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Based in Cambridge, UK and employing over 450 people, Jagex is one of the UK's largest and most successful video game studios, developing and publishing video games for PC and mobile devices. The company is best known for the RuneScape online role-playing game franchise, which has attracted nearly 300 million player accounts since its launch 20 years ago.
